How to Create a Gradient in Photoshop
Step 1
The Gradient tool can be found in the left-hand toolbar or by pressing G.



Step 2
In the upper Options bar, you can select a Preset gradient and the Style, although these can also be changed later.
To create the initial gradient, click and drag on the canvas. In the below example, I dragged from top to bottom.



Step 3
You can adjust the placement and angle of the gradient by clicking and dragging the outer Anchor Points and Path.



Step 4
You can adjust the spread of the gradient's color by clicking and dragging the Color Midpoint, found between any two colors.



Step 5
You can find more gradient controls in the Window > Properties panel when the Gradient layer is active. Here we can choose a new Preset, change its Style, and place more colors onto our gradient.
To add a new color to your gradient, click right below the Gradient Bar. It will create a Color Stop in the shade of your Foreground color.
To change a color, double-click the Color Stop to open the Color Picker and select a new color.



Step 6
To remove a color from a gradient, select the Color Stop and hit Delete.

- Select an Opacity Stop to adjust its Opacity.

- Delete and Opacity Stop by selecting the stop and hitting Delete.
