Now that you've downloaded your premium template you may wonder how to write a simple, but effective, resume. Your resume template comes with sections. These sections enable you to fill out your resume quickly and accurately.

Sections on CV Resume Template
This CV Resume template has sections ready for you to add your summary, education and experience.

For example, one of the sections above is the objective or summary section. For this section, provide a brief summary of your background and explain why you'd be good for the job you’re applying to.

Other sections include the experience and education sections. When filling out these sections you'll need to tailor what you write for the job you're applying to.

Only put information that's relevant to the job requirements into your resume. Including too much information could cause the hiring manager to miss your relevant experience.

I'll be using page two of the resume template.

Before you can add text, you'll need to remove text you don't want. To do this, click in the text that you want to get rid of. You'll now see that the text box is selected (handles appear around the text).

Now, highlight the text that you don't want. Tap Delete on your keyboard.

Now that you've removed the unwanted text, start entering your own information.

There could be several reasons that you'll want to add an image to your resume. The job that your applying to may require a head shot. You might want to add icons to represent your skills. Or, maybe you've got a logo.

For this example, I'm using page 8 of the resume template. Here's the template without any editing:

5 Tips to Make Professional Resumes That Get Results

Here's some good simple resume tips to help give you the edge in your job search:

1. Proofread Your Resume

When proofreading your resume look for grammar and spelling errors. A hiring manager may stop reading your resume if they notice a spelling error.

After reviewing it for any grammar and spelling errors, have someone else read over your resume. This increases your chances of finding any mistakes that you could've missed.

Another thing to look for when you're proofreading your resume is to make sure that all the fonts can be easily read. You may be tempted to use a fancy font to make your simple professional resume look fancier, but if the hiring manager can’t read the resume that decision may cost you a job.

Finally, if you're using a cover letter, proofread the cover letter as well.

2. Use Keywords

Use Keywords
Here's a simple professional premium resume template that can be found on Envato Elements.

Using industry-specific keywords will help highlight your experience. They'll make what you're trying to tell the hiring manager stand out. Keywords are a great way to catch the attention of any hiring manager who may skim your cover letter and sample resume for keywords that fit the job you're applying for.

Many companies use computerized applicant tracking systems (ATS) that look for specific keywords in a resume before it even gets to the hiring manager. Resumes that don't contain the required keywords go unread. Industry-specific keywords may mean the difference between a resume that gets read and one that doesn't.

3. List Your Accomplishments

A good simple resume will have a list of your accomplishments with facts to back up them up.

For example, if you're a sales lead and you include the title "sales lead" on your resume, you'd also want to add that you increased product sales by 30 percent. This detail shows the hiring manager how much your hard work affected sales.

Putting facts with accomplishments helps to get the attention of the hiring manager.

4. Customize Your Resume

Customize Your Resume
This is one of the many premium resume templates that can be easily edited.

You don't need to use a resume template exactly the way it is. You can add and delete section as you need them. You can also change the font and font size and even the font color.

Be careful not to use too many different fonts or to try to cram too much information on a single page.

5.  Match Your Resume to Your LinkedIn

You may want to add your LinkedIn profile hyperlink to your resume. If you do, make sure that your LinkedIn profile matches your resume. If your LinkedIn profile page is outdated or has different information, it can confuse the hiring manager.

Update your LinkedIn profile before you submit your simple resume. Also, read over your LinkedIn profile for spelling and grammar errors.
